Easy Scan - TRUE TO ITS TITLE (1.8.0) 5/14/2017 12:07:05 PM 5/5 By LHO22 This app is PERFECT for quickly scanning documents, ideally from a scanner with a document feeder, flat bed scans maybe better suited with an alternate application. It will scan Color or BW and OCR all the text before exporting to PDF in single or combined files giving you the choice to set quality from a 12MB PDF down to a 200KB. If you are scanning Contracts, documents, letters, general paperwork - THIS IS THE APP FOR YOU! Bear in mind It’s called Easy Scan for a reason - It doesn’t have the advanced features associated with some apps meant to scan high quality photos. It will scan photos, with good DPI/Quality, however there may be better choices depending on your goal/use; all be it that are not as “easy” or simple. I see Too many negative ratings/reviews which are not deserved the majority sound like user error or legacy printer driver issues, unrelated to this handy app which works fine!!!
I normally don’t write reviews. HP Should be Embarrassed (1.8.0) 5/11/2017 12:58:56 PM 1/5 By kfb1951 I own an HP Scanjet 5590, which is a low end professional series and a stand alone scanner.
Download the latest driver, firmware, and software for your HP Scanjet 5590 Digital Flatbed Scanner series. This is HP's official website to download drivers free of cost for your HP Computing and Printing products for Windows and Mac operating system.
Since I updated to HP Easy Scan ver 1.8, and running the most current version of El Capitan, this app has seriously compromised the function of this scanner. I continually receive the error message, “Scanner reported an error.
HP Scanjet 5590 is currently unavailable. Ensure your device is powered on, check the connection, and ensure your network is functioning properly. If these conditions are correct, restart the device and try scanning again.” The scanner buttons have been rendered useless.
My drivers are up to date. Once again, HP has offered seriously defective software that hampers their products. HP should be embarrassed. Is HP even aware of the miserable ratings for this app?
What do they plan to do about this garbage? It does NOT work (1.8.0) 5/10/2017 8:36:33 PM 1/5 By JKJSFCA I have an HP Officejet 4500 G510n multifunction. Sorry to say but after up grading to Sierra and then installing HP Easy Scan I can no longer scan. The app never successfully connects to my printer/scanner. I can print, but I cannot scan. I have tried every suggestion I can find to troubleshoot including installing and uninstalling all applicable software and the printer.
I checked to make sure my printer was supported, which it is supposedly. But no success. I am supremely disappointed. And now none of the original methods I used are working either.
I do not reccomend this. Doesnt’t work wiuth HP Photosmart C7200 (1.8.0) 5/6/2017 1:33:01 PM 1/5 By KnotHoleGangsta Scanner is recognized, initiates feeding documents with document feeder, then returns an error that C7200 series isn’t supported. Luckily, I have another Mac running Mavericks with which I can still use the old HP utility to scan. (FYI, old utility does not work wioth Sierra for scanning either). Not a very satisfying experience. Hopefully, HP and/or Apple will address the issue of Sierra with some HP series printers. Almost not okay (1.8.0) 5/4/2017 2:51:32 PM 3/5 By bpotter53029 It is not a user friendly app to say the least.
For example, if I want to copy a notice to a PDF to send to a client, I would like to be able to use the document feeder on the printer to scan the notice into a PDF file. But this app is limited to having to do a page at a time, and after each scan you have to tell it that you want to add another page. You also have to tell it that you want printed pages with color or not first instead of pictures. This means manual feeding, and time consumption. After all is scanned, then you have to tell it you want it saved as a PDF. The help file is anything but.
Understanding all this, I have no problems finding the printer/scanner like I’ve seen others have. Unless my computer decides to hook up to a different network.
